Story by Ustaz Abdul Aziz Ahmad Abban, Nazim-e-Isha’at.
Following the appointment of Mr. Ishmael Ewudzie as Qaid Ilaqa (Regional Youth President) for the Volta Region, a handing over ceremony was held on Friday, December 23, 2016 to commemorate the change in leadership.
The appointment was as a result of a successful graduation of the former Regional Qaid, Mr Adam Sako to the Majlis Ansarullah.
In his final address, the outgoing Qaid Ilaqa Volta, Mr. Adam Sako, thanked Allah for having brought him that far. As a convert, Mr. Sako shared his life story about how he became an Ahmadi and subsequently his appointment as a Qaid at a time he virtually knew nothing about the Jama’at.
He recalled that at the time, the region had low membership and the few members were mostly inactive, “and yet a person like myself was made their leader”, as he affectionately recounted.
It was a big challenge to which he lamented but he received support from members like the then Missionary Ustaz Ibrahim Ahmad Forson, now serving in Jamaica, and some hardworking Khuddam including the Mu’tamad Ilaqa, Mr. Abdur-Rahman Sakyi and Mr. Suleiman Ankam currently serving as Nazim Mal.
He alluded to the fact that he faced so many challenges of finance, mobility and commitment from members. However, he expressed much hope that the new administration will break through all these challenges Insha Allah.
He called on all the new executives to exhibit a sense of dedication, support and enthusiasm towards their duties and to give an unflinching support to the new Qaid. “The region can match with other regions in the country Insha Allah” he added.
In conclusion, Mr. Sako thanked all Jama’at members for their support during his tenure as the Qaid Ilaqa, Volta.
The incoming Qaid Ilaqa Volta, Mr. Ishmael Ewudzie, in his acceptance speech thanked Allah for the honour done him.
He continued by mentioning his ambition of working outside the Volta Region and how all his efforts in that pursuit proved futile.
This, he noted, was an indication that Allah destined his stay in the region a little longer to serve. He observed that even though conditions might have improved as his immediate predecessor indicated, he felt the region was still relatively far behind.
He asked the executives to give their time, wealth and anything worth sacrificing to bring development and success to the region. He added saying “I can only be successful in my mission only if the executives help the execution of my agenda” adding “that success depends on the Khuddam and so we should give all out to attain this goal”.
He congratulated Mr. Adam Sako, whom he served under as Naib Qaid Ilaqa, for good work done and promised to continue from where he left.
The Acting Regional Missionary Ustaz Abdul Aziz Ahmad Abbang, expressed his profound happiness for the handing over, saying it is an exhibition of the growth and progress of the Jama’at in Volta Region.
He requested for Allah’s blessings on the outgone Regional Qaid and his family. He advised him to fortify himself with the same dedicated spirit so as to help the Regional Nazim Ansarullah to move the region forward.
The Acting Regional Missionary, on behalf of all Circuit Missionaries in the Volta Region, pledged their unflinching support to the new Qaid Ilaqa Ishmael Ewudzie Sahib.
