A forum for Ahmadi pupils and students in junior, senior secondary schools and tertiary institutions was held on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the Akim Oda Central mosque to facilitate interaction and share experiences on the challenges they face practicing their religion.
Preceding the forum was a recitation from the Holy Qur’an by Master Saeed Ahmed Adam of Attafuah Senior High School, Akim Oda. The acting Circuit President Mr. Mustapha Fiifi Adam led in the opening prayer.
In his opening remarks, the Circuit Missionary, Murabbi Mubashir Okwan narrated his personal life experience and said that despite the challenges they might face, they should hold on to the teachings of Islam. He urged them to use their knowledge and whatever natural endowments to serve Islam.
The Eastern Zonal Qaid, Mr. Malek Affum referred to Huzur’s address to Waqf-e-Nau in the UK on February 28, 2016 and advised the students to be regular in their prayers, lead lives worthy of emulation and stick to the teachings of Islam. The Zonal Qaid reminded the students of the Ahmadiyya Academic Excellence Awards and the need to endeavour to excel in their field of study to be recognised for the award.
Mr. Affum encouraged them to join the wasiyyat scheme as it is easier for students to be accepted into the blessed scheme, cautioned them about illicit relationships in school and urged them to save money to pay their chanda. He advised the female students to wear the veil to school since the Ghana Education Service has permitted its use. Lastly, Mr. Affum informed the students about the existence of the Education and Welfare Fund from which needy students could benefit.
The Eastern Zonal Nazim Atfal, Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Botwe, said they should be proud of being Ahmadi Muslims, adding: “If you do it well, it will benefit you in future”.
During discussions, some of the students stated that their institutions have designated places for them as mosques and practice their faith freely.
In his closing remarks, the acting Circuit President, Mr. Mustapha Fiifi Adam said when French President Nicholas Sarkozy tried to ban the wearing of the veil in France he lost the Presidential elections so no one can destroy Islam. He said Islam Ahmadiyyat is bound to be victorious over all other religions and urged them to be proud as Ahmadi Muslims.
The Secretary in charge of Students Affairs in Akim Oda Circuit, Sherif Amponsah thanked all the students for showing up despite the short notice.
A total of 18 students made up of six Khuddam, three Atfal, five Lajna and four Nasirat participated. The students came from T.I Ahmadiyya Senior High, Kumasi, Oda Senior High School, Attafuah Senior High in Akim Oda, Goaso Nursing Training College and the University of Education, Winneba as well as basic and primary schools in Akim Oda.
