The 18th Annual Ijtema (Rally) of Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya (Male Youth Organization of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission), Eastern Region was held from July 1 to 2, 2017 at the Zion L.A Primary School, Akyem Achiase in the Akim Oda Circuit with a call on Muslims and non-Muslims to understand the true and peaceful teachings of the Islam and live by them.
The purpose for organizing such annual regional rallies is to work at improving the physical and spiritual state of members through religious academic competitions and sporting activities. This year’s regional rally was on the theme “The True Meaning of Jihad”.
The two day rally began with the Atfal Rally on July 1, 2017. There were various religious academic competitions for the Atfal and Khuddam ranging from Qur’an Reading and Memorization, Oral and Written Quiz, Salat Performance, Azan Calling, Recitation of Al-Qaseeda and the poem “To the Nation’s Youth” to Message Delivery and Extempore Speeches. An inter-circuit football match also was played.
There were four speeches during the dawn session of day two after tahajud prayers. Mr. Fareed Kolevi, Headmaster of T.I Ahmadiyya Basic School, Nkawkaw delivered the first speech on “Dedication and Sacrifice in the Cause of Allah”. The second speech was presented by Ustaz Ibrahim Dantse, the Nkawkaw Circuit Missionary on “Importance of Tabligh and Tarbiyyat”, Mr. Jibreel Baidoo, Naib Qaid Ilaqa, Western Region spoke on “The Essence of the Hisb System” and increasing our attendance at the National Ijtema in August 2017. The last speech was by Ustaz Jamaludeen Kweku Donkoh. He urged members to join the Missionary field by applying to Jamia International or Mubashireen because Ahmadiyya is in need of Missionaries. He added that it would be a source of great blessings for every family to have at least one Missionary in it.
The closing session and climax of the rally witnessed the presence of Sadr (National President) Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Ghana Mr. Nasir Ahmed Bonsu; Maulvi Mubarak Ahmed Adil, the Eastern Regional Missionary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission; Ustaz Jamaludeen Kweku Donkoh, the Koforidua Circuit Missionary; Ustaz Ibrahim Dantse, the Nkawkaw Circuit Missionary; the Eastern Regional Majlis Ansarullah Nazim Mr. Mustapha Ibrahim; the Regional Tahrik-e-Jadid Secretary, Mr. Mohammed Kofi Opoku; and Mr. Nuhu Kofi Arhin, the Akim Oda Circuit President. Also present were Ustaz Aliu Adam (Naib Sadr, Greater Accra & Administration), Mr. Uthman Yaw Baidoo (Naib Sadr, Southern Sector) and 12 other National Aamila members of the Majlis. The session was chaired by the Sadr Mulk.
The main speaker for the rally was Ustaz Mubashir Adam Okwan, the Akim Oda Circuit Missionary. Speaking on the theme, he spoke of how the word “Jihad” continues to be misunderstood because of the acts of extremist and so called Muslims who abuse the teachings of Islam. Ustaz Okwan emphasized the need for Muslims to strive to fight against the evil propensities within themselves to become better Muslims in their homes and the societies they live in because that is the true Jihad.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour, Dasebre Gyenin Kantan II, who is also the acting Nifahene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, praised the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community for being peace loving people. He advised the Muslim youth to shun all forms of terrorism, hooliganism, rebellion, bribery, corruption, theft, alcoholism, adultery, fornication, etc. and stick to the tenets of true Islam as they are noted for.
Father Francis Sackey of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Achiase thanked the organizers for inviting him and advised members to stick to the teachings of their religion and wished us well. He made a cash donation. Mr. Mohammed Sani, who represented of the Achiase Chief Imam advised the youth to fear Allah in everything they do.
The Invited Guests were decorated with a kente strip with the inscription “Love for All, Hatred for None”, the motto of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission and presented with copies of the book “World Crisis and Pathway to Peace” authored by Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad (may Allah strengthen him), present Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
Certificates were presented to deserving members who engaged themselves in the various academic and sporting disciplines.
In his closing remarks, the chairman Mr. Nasir Ahmed Bonsu congratulated the region for a successful rally and urged the members to be disciplined and inculcate the lessons learnt during the rally.
The rally recorded a total of 78 Atfal and 136 Khuddam from five circuits out of the six in the region. 15 Atfal and 28 Khuddam from Central East Region also participated in solidarity with the region
There were some highlights of the rally. The Khuddam and Atfal in their youthful exuberance took to the major streets of Akyem Achiase in a route march singing praise songs and doing tabligh (preaching). About 400 leaflets were distributed during the route march.
There was also a book stall where various jama’at literature were on sale to members and the general public. It was manned by Ustaz Jamaludeen Kweku Donkoh, the Koforidua Circuit Missionary.
Sadr Sahib also granted an interview to ATV, Obuoba FM and Akyemansa FM where he explained the advent of the second coming of Jesus Christ (on whom be peace) in the person of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian (on whom be peace), the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
